A Russian army serviceman will be tried for rape and sexual slavery of a resident of Kherson region.

This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The report says that under the procedural guidance of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, an indictment was sent to court against a serviceman of the 25th Separate Guards Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces Special Forces who committed sexual violence against a woman during the temporary occupation of the right-bank part of Kherson region. He is charged with cruel treatment of civilians and other violations of the laws and customs of war (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Thus, the investigation established that in 2022 the accused served in the ranks of the Russian Armed Forces and took an active part in hostilities against Ukraine in one of the settlements of the Kherson district. In early September of the same year, he noticed a local resident walking home. Using force, the perpetrator pushed the woman into a car and drove her to a house where he lived. There, he threatened her, forced her to undress and raped her. After that, the accused used her defenseless and helpless state to imprison her in the house. Isolated from the outside world, the victim was forced to obey his prohibitions and restrictions under threats. The Russian serviceman systematically raped the woman, forced her to serve him in the house, and for the slightest disobedience he beat her and locked her in the basement for a long time. The occupier continued such abuse of the victim for more than a month until he left the settlement.

The special pre-trial investigation was carried out by the Main Department of the National Police in Kherson region.

Earlier, it was reported that a Russian Armed Forces serviceman was sentenced to 12 years in prison for raping a resident of Kherson region.
