The court has announced the sentence of the former deputy director of a school in Genichesk, who transferred the school to Russian standards and destroyed Ukrainian textbooks.

Kherson City Court found her guilty of collaboration and sentenced her to eight years in prison with confiscation of property.

According to the Center for Journalistic Exaggeration, the woman in question is 62-year-old Nina Zelenska. The former deputy director of the Genichesk sanatorium boarding school, she voluntarily went over to the side of the occupiers in 2022. She became the head of the educational institution after it was seized by the Russian military and registered the school in the jurisdiction of the Russian Federation under the name "Genicheskaya Sanatorium General Education Boarding School of the Genichesky Municipal District".

The court found that she implemented Russian educational standards, forced children to study in Russian and fostered hostility towards Ukraine.

Zelenska actively participated in propaganda activities, supported the occupation authorities and destroyed all Ukrainian textbooks. Her colleagues testified that she persuaded teachers to cooperate with the occupiers, praised the invaders and helped them control the school.

The verdict under Part 3 and Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine has not yet entered into force, as the collaborator is hiding in the temporarily occupied territory.

Recently, the prosecutor's office brought to court the case of a 62-year-old teacher from Kherson who headed a department at the occupiers' pseudo-university and implemented Russian standards. She will be tried for collaboration.

The court also sentenced two pensioners for managing occupation schools in Kherson region. They were convicted of collaboration, but so far in absentia.

In addition, a former lyceum director from the Kakhovka district of Kherson region, who was engaged in propaganda and helped to implement Russian standards in education, will be tried. The woman conducted propaganda activities, forcing students and staff to sing the Russian anthem every morning.
