The SBU detained a traitor who worked in the invaders' penal colony during the occupation of Kherson and guarded the imprisoned resistance members. After the de-occupation, he tried to hide.

This was reported by the press service of the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The Security Service of Ukraine detained another collaborator who collaborated with the occupiers during the temporary occupation of Kherson. The man was hiding after the liberation of the city, but he was found.

He is a 43-year-old resident of Kherson, who voluntarily went to serve the occupation administration after the start of the full-scale invasion. According to the investigation, he held the position of "junior inspector of the security department supervision group" of the so-called colony No. 90, created by the invaders. There, he oversaw the detention of local residents who were imprisoned by the occupiers for participating in the resistance movement.

After the de-occupation of Kherson in November 2022, the man did not leave the region, but tried to avoid responsibility by concealing his involvement in working for the enemy. However, SBU officers exposed his whereabouts and detained him in Mykolaiv.

He has now been served a notice of suspicion under Part 7 of Art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - voluntary holding a position in an illegal law enforcement agency established in the temporarily occupied territory. The suspect is in custody. He faces up to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

A resident of Kherson region was also sentenced to 15 years in prison for collaborating with the occupation authorities and serving in an illegal police station in Nova Kakhovka. He served as the so-called head of the detention center and participated in the illegal detention of Ukrainian citizens.

In addition, the Kherson City Court found the former deputy head of one of the units of the state institution "Northern Correctional Colony No. 90" guilty of collaboration. He also collaborated with the occupation authorities during the temporary occupation of Kherson.
