The investigation into the case of a former Mykolaiv deputy suspected of receiving compensation for renting a house has been completed. According to the law, the suspect faces up to three years in prison.

This was reported by the Center for Public Investigations with reference to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine.

The NABU and the SAPO have completed an investigation into the suspicion of a Member of Parliament of Ukraine of the VIII convocation of illegally receiving compensation for rent.

According to the investigation, from 2014 to August 2019, the suspect, having his own apartment in Kyiv, received UAH 936 thousand from the budget of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine as compensation for the use of a hotel room of the Kyiv Hotel Complex.

He was charged with Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - abuse of power or position. The former MP faces up to three years in prison.

On June 13, 2024, NABU detectives served a former MP with a notice of suspicion of illegally receiving compensation for renting a hotel room in Kyiv. This is former MP Arkadii Kornatskyi, who was elected in 2014 from Mykolaiv region.

As part of the pre-trial investigation, it was established that from 2014 to 2019, the suspect illegally received compensation from the budget of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for hotel accommodation, which was intended for MPs who did not have their own homes in the capital.

The MP, having concealed the fact that he had his own home in Kyiv, illegally received money from the state budget for the period in question.

Recently, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office summarized the results of the first six months of 2024.

The NABU has launched 323 new investigations, with 166 suspects, 64 cases sent to court, 27 guilty verdicts and 36 corrupt officials punished. In the first six months of this year, seven senior government officials were put on trial.
