Fire destroys over 520 hectares of crops in Mykolaiv region

On June 30 and on the night of July 1, five large-scale fires broke out on farmland in Mykolaiv region. The fire destroyed more than 520 hectares of grain crops.

According to the Mykolaiv Oblast State Emergency Service, these are the largest crop losses in recent times. Thus, 60 hectares of wheat burned in the Voskresenska community of Mykolaiv district. The Buzka community of Voznesenka district suffered the greatest losses - 400 hectares of crops were destroyed by fire. Another 55 hectares were burned in the Mostiv community. These three incidents were classified as emergency fires in terms of scale.

In addition, the fire destroyed 2 hectares of wheat in the village of Luhove, and 6.5 hectares of barley burned in the village of Shchaslyve.

Fire and rescue units were working at the sites of the fires, taking measures to localize them and prevent further spread.

In the evening of June 30, more than 50 fires were registered in Mykolaiv region with a total area of over 400 hectares. At that time, three large-scale fires were raging in the city, where the fire was approaching the residential sector due to gusty winds. Duty and reserve firefighting crews were engaged in extinguishing the fires, and water trucks were used to transport water. Firefighters from local fire brigades are assisting, and local businesses are providing special equipment and water trucks.

Earlier, 29 ecosystem fires occurred in Mykolaiv region, destroying more than 140 hectares of wheat and dozens of hectares of dead wood. The largest fire engulfed fields in the village of Myroliubivka, while other incidents were reported in Snihurivka and Porichchya, where the fire reached residential buildings and farmland. The largest incident occurred in the village of Myroliubivka of the Voskresenska community in Mykolaiv district. This fire was classified as a natural disaster at the facility level.
