On Wednesday, May 15, an extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee of the Odesa City Council will begin in Odesa.

The relevant information is published on the official website of the municipality.

There is only one issue on the agenda - dismantling of facilities that were damaged or completely destroyed as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

Director of the Department for City Improvement Oleksandr Ilyin will report on this issue. We are talking about facilities that have lost their operational characteristics due to enemy shelling or other consequences of hostilities.

It should be added that Odesa is under constant attack from Russia - the city is regularly shelled by Shahed-type kamikaze drones. As a result of these attacks, residential buildings, infrastructure and historical buildings are damaged. Some of the buildings are in a state of disrepair and must be dismantled after the shelling.

For example, on the night of May 1, Russians launched a massive drone strike on Odesa. The attack resulted in hits to residential buildings and casualties among local residents. According to official reports, two people were killed and 15 others were injured.

A 16-story residential building that was hit by a Russian drone was declared an emergency, and its residents are being relocated. The three-story building, which was also damaged and consisted of 18 apartments, is not subject to restoration and is planned to be demolished, said Oleksandr Kharlov, first deputy head of the Odesa regional military administration, in a telethon.

Odesa will also begin partial dismantling of residential buildings in Dacha Kovalevsky that were damaged by Russian shelling on October 18. At the meeting, the executive committee approved a technical inspection report that provides for dismantling. The report was also approved by the regional commission on technogenic and environmental safety and emergencies.
