Deputy director of lyceum in Odesa region fined for six bribes

The Artsyz District Court of Odesa Oblast approved a plea agreement between the prosecutor and the deputy director for educational and production work of the Artsyz Professional Agricultural Lyceum State Educational Institution on the abuse of influence.

According to the Center for Public Investigations, in November 2024, the woman was approached by an acquaintance who said he wanted to obtain a tractor driver's license for himself and his acquaintance.

The man who approached the teacher learned from his acquaintance that the certificate could be obtained through the lyceum officials, who organize short-term courses in the tractor driver training program, only after which it is possible to take an exam at the Main Department of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection in Odesa Oblast. The convict promised to help her client in return for a bribe.

She demanded 3,500 and 4,000 hryvnias from both future tractor drivers. At the same time, they did not go to training. After she received the bribe, the woman handed over the tractor drivers' licenses and was arrested.

The judges sentenced her to a fine agreed by the parties in the amount of two thousand five hundred non-taxable minimum incomes, which is 42.5 thousand hryvnias.

Earlier, a hospital director and a deputy of the Berezovsk city council were arrested in Odesa region. The official was accused of extortion and bribery for influencing the decision of the Military Qualification Commission regarding conscripts. In Odesa, a soldier was detained on suspicion of bribery. He promised to help a conscript avoid mobilization by issuing fictitious documents about his unfitness for service, as well as to facilitate his removal from the military register. According to the pre-trial investigation, the suspect, realizing the illegality of his actions, established contact with the citizen via mobile phone and Telegram. He learned that the man was seeking to obtain legal grounds for deregistration and travel abroad, and offered him assistance for USD 9 thousand.
