The former senior investigator of the Odesa regional prosecutor's office was put on trial for cooperation with Russian special services and manufacturing explosives for attacks on the Ukrainian military. According to the investigation, the man provided logistics for explosive devices and hid them in different regions of Ukraine.

The process was reported by an informant.

According to the investigation, the former law enforcement officer received coordinates from a Russian supervisor, completed the explosives and covertly transported them to designated locations. He planned to blow up vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Chernihiv region. One of the caches was arranged in a city cemetery, where counterintelligence found a ready-made explosive device.

The SBU noted that the man was recruited on ideological grounds through former classmates and classmates from the Soviet era. During Yanukovych 's presidency, he worked as a senior investigator at the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor's Office in Odesa region.

During searches in the house of the ex-prosecutor's parents, law enforcement officers found a workshop and a warehouse of ready-made explosive devices. The sappers found that the explosives were manufactured at a high professional level.

Each device contained about a kilogram of explosives, which, according to experts, would have been enough to completely destroy the car with the people inside. The explosives could be activated both while the car was moving and remotely via a cell phone. In total, counterintelligence seized three fully armed explosive devices, and among the components they found Russian ammunition manufactured after the start of the full-scale invasion.

Also in May, a court in Odesa sentenced a British citizen, Ross David Cutmore, a former military instructor, to 8.5 years in prison for working for the FSB.

According to the investigation, the foreigner arrived in Ukraine in early 2024. At first, he conducted training for the Ukrainian military in Mykolaiv, and later worked at a border guard detachment. In the fall of the same year, the man moved to Odesa, where he established contact with a representative of the Russian special services and agreed to collect intelligence for a fee.
