Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office has served a notice of suspicion to the former head of one of the region's state forestry enterprises. The ex-director is accused of negligence under Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. According to the investigation, the improper performance of official duties by the head led to serious losses for the state and caused severe consequences for the environmental or economic fund of the region.
This was reported by the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
The investigation found that the former head of the state-owned enterprise committed a gross violation by failing to ensure the proper use of forest land. Instead of preserving the forest fund, he organized the sowing of agricultural crops on a 32-hectare plot, which directly contradicts land and forestry legislation.
Such actions caused losses to the state in the amount of over UAH 700 thousand. The case is currently being investigated by SBI investigators in Mykolaiv under the supervision of the regional prosecutor's office.
As reported earlier, the amount of damage caused to the environment of Mykolaiv region as a result of Russian shelling exceeded UAH 57 million. This data was made public by environmental inspectors after making the relevant calculations.
The greatest damage was caused by a fire at an agricultural enterprise, where 954 tons of fuel and lubricants were burned as a result of a hit. This resulted in the release of over 3,000 tons of pollutants into the atmosphere, and the damage is estimated at UAH 56 million.
Another incident occurred in late October in Mykolaiv district. The shelling of a transformer substation led to the ignition of almost 60 tons of oil. As a result, more than 205 tons of harmful compounds were released into the air, causing damage worth more than UAH 1 million.
