Environmental Inspectorate calculates environmental damage caused by Artsyz shelling

The shelling of energy infrastructure in the city of Artsyz, Bolhrad district, Odesa region, on November 17, 2024, caused a fire of oil products - transformer oil - and the release of 116 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

This was reported by the press service of the State Ecological Inspectorate of the Southwestern District.

Almost 116 tons of carbon dioxide were released into the atmosphere, and the total environmental damage was estimated at more than UAH 387 thousand. All the data was handed over to the Operational Headquarters of the State Environmental Inspectorate of Ukraine to document crimes against the environment.

Earlier , Bessarabia. Inform reported that on November 17, the energy infrastructure in Artsyz came under fire and the Artsyz community consumed electricity from neighboring Moldova. In total, the blast wave damaged 21 entrances in 10 apartment buildings. Windows were smashed out of residents' homes, and window panes in the entrances failed.

On November 17, emergency power outages were imposed in Odesa region, causing a number of Infoksvodokanal's facilities to be cut off. According to Infoksvodokanal, most pumping stations were switched to generators to restore water supply. However, the high capacity and technological conditions of some of them do not allow for the use of autonomous power sources.

The head of the Odesa regional administration, Oleh Kiper, said that the Russian attack killed two people and injured a 17-year-old boy. The State Emergency Service reported that the shelling caused fires in three private houses and partially destroyed four other houses.

According to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, that night and in the morning, Russian terrorists used various types of drones, including Shahideen. Cruise, ballistic and aerial missiles: "Zircon, Iskander, Daggers. A total of about 120 missiles and 90 drones. Air defense forces destroyed more than 140 air targets.
