Mykolaiv plans to completely replace the emergency section of the sewer under the market, which was destroyed by gas corrosion. The market pavilions were built with violations, which complicates the repair work.

This was reported by MikVisti with reference to a statement by Borys Dudenko, director of the Mykolaivvodokanal utility company.

Mykolaiv plans to completely replace the emergency section of the sewer collector that runs under the Strasse market in the Namiv neighborhood.

According to the company's director, the market's trade pavilions were built in violation of building codes - directly over a concrete collector that has been severely damaged by gas corrosion and is in an emergency state. Due to corrosion, the concrete is simply crumbling. The situation is complicated by the fact that the collector lies at a depth of 6.5-7 meters, and groundwater is very close.

As soon as we clear the pit, it floods again. The work is very difficult," said Dudenko.

The company is currently preparing to announce a tender for the design and complete replacement of the problem area.

On May 29, deputies of the Mykolaiv City Council approved the composition of the supervisory board of Mykolaivvodokanal. This body has been given broad powers, from participating in the selection of management to approving financial plans and approving transactions. The initiators of the decision call the creation of the board an important step in corporate governance reform.

In 2024, Mykolaivvodokanal spent over UAH 500 million on procurement. The most significant expenditures were made for the reconstruction of water supply networks, road repairs, and electricity purchases.

To ensure that the city's roads were not left torn up after the repairs, the company held tenders for road resurfacing. About UAH 36 million was spent on repairing sidewalks and UAH 42 million on laying asphalt concrete.

More than UAH 22 million was also allocated for the reconstruction of the water supply system, UAH 53 million for sewage pumping stations, and UAH 9.7 million for sewers.
