In the Mykolaiv region, the head of the regional blood transfusion station is suspected of embezzling blood plasma worth more than 2.2 million hryvnias.

According to the press service of the regional prosecutor’s office, the acting director of the Mykolaiv Regional Blood Transfusion Station was charged with embezzling the entity’s property on an especially large scale by abusing his official position (Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, in March 2026, the municipal enterprise entered into a contract with a private company for the sale of fresh-frozen blood plasma.

The director knew that the station did not have the required amount of plasma that would meet the terms of the contract. Despite this, he ordered his subordinates to include more than 661 liters of freshly frozen plasma—a product with a much higher value—in the shipment.

In fact, this more expensive plasma was sold to the private company under the guise of a different, cheaper category.

As a result, the municipal enterprise lost revenue. The total amount of losses exceeded 2.2 million hryvnias.

As Intent previously reported, in the Mykolaiv region, a chief physician is suspected of embezzling funds intended for the renovation of a medical facility. Over 4.6 million hryvnias, which were supposed to go toward renovating the district hospital, were diverted through fraudulent documents.

Law enforcement officials notified the chief physician of the medical facility of the charges against her, and the contractor was placed on an international wanted list.

Meanwhile, a court acquitted a former chief physician in the Odesa region of criminal liability for embezzling budget funds. The case was dismissed due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.
