New air raid alert levels have been introduced in the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions

A tiered air raid alert system has been introduced in the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions. From now on, alerts will specify the level and type of threat—drone, missile, missile-drone, or massive drone attack.

This was reported by the regional military administrations.

In the Odesa region, the new system went into effect on September 7, and in the Mykolaiv region, on September 8. In the Mykolaiv region, the system is currently being implemented on a pilot basis.

Under the new procedure, there are two threat levels:

• yellow level — drone threat;
• red level — missile, missile-drone, or massive drone threat.

The audible alarm will vary depending on the alert level. During a red alert, a continuous, prolonged alarm—lasting more than 30 seconds—will sound. During a yellow alert, the alarm will be continuous but shorter.

Information about the threat level is already displayed on Ukraine’s official air raid alert map and in the mobile app.

During a yellow alert, businesses and organizations may continue operations provided they have shelters for employees and visitors. If no shelters are available, operations may continue—with the consent of the workforce—until shelters are established, but for no longer than three months.

During a red alert, business operations must be suspended, and people must immediately proceed to shelters.

The new alert procedure was introduced in accordance with Resolution No. 1092 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated September 4, 2026.

It is worth noting that in August 2026,air raid alertswere issued more frequently in the Odesa region than in July—306 times compared to 286. At the same time, the number of reports of explosions decreased by nearly a third.
