In August, the number of alerts increased in the Odesa region, but the number of explosions decreased

In August 2026, air raid alerts were sounded more frequently in the Odesa region than in July—306 times compared to 286. At the same time, the number of reports of explosions decreased by nearly a third.

How many air raid alerts were there in August?

In August 2026, 306 air raid alerts were recorded in the Odesa region. The average duration of a single alert was 48 minutes and 11 seconds.

The longest alert lasted 6 hours and 6 minutes. It was recorded on August 20—it began at 12:35 a.m.

Air raid alerts in the Odesa region were most frequently declared on Sundays, and the most common start time was 2:00 p.m. The alerts were most often sounded between 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Also in August, the media reported 44 incidents of explosions in the region. Two of these reports occurred on the last day of the month. The last one was published on August 31 at 11:22 p.m. in Odesa.

How does this compare to July?

In July 2026, 286 air raid alerts were recorded in the Odesa region—20 fewer than in August. The average duration of a single alert at that time was 44 minutes and 37 seconds, meaning that in August, alerts lasted on average about 3.5 minutes longer.

The longest alert in July lasted 5 hours, 14 minutes, and 43 seconds—it was recorded on July 30 and began at 5:17 p.m. In other words, the maximum duration of an alert in August also exceeded July’s figure by nearly an hour.

The day on which alarms sounded most frequently also changed: while in July it was Wednesday, in August it was Sunday. The time period of peak activity also shifted: in July, the alerts sounded most frequently from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., while in August, they sounded from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

As for explosions, the media reported 67 incidents in July—nearly a third more than in August (44 incidents). In July, six reports of explosions occurred on the 31st, whereas in August there were only two.

Thus, in terms of the number of air raid alerts, August was more intense than July: there were more alerts, and their average and maximum durations increased. At the same time, there were fewer media reports of explosions.
