In the temporarily occupied Crimea this summer, not only rescuers, but also drones will be monitoring vacationers at sea.

This was reported by Holos Kryma with reference to the so-called "Chief State Inspector for Small Vessels of the Russian Emergencies Ministry in Crimea" Oleksandr Zraenko.

According to him, the drones will be used to monitor the water area and detect violations on the water. The drones should help rescue units respond more quickly to situations off the coast.

Occupation officials claim that the system of using drones in Crimea has been in place since 2015, but now they plan to use it more actively during the holiday season.

At the same time, collaborator Alexander Nick, who heads the Russian-controlled All-Russian Water Rescue Society, said that lifeguards will be on duty on the "officially opened" beaches. According to him, up to two thousand rescue posts can operate in the occupied Crimea.

He also said that about 400 rescuers are currently being trained on the peninsula. Some of them are trained by organizations with a Russian license, and in the summer, additional specialists from Russia will allegedly come to Crimea.

In addition, the collaborator said that rescuers must confirm their qualifications every year, and also described the requirements for candidates, including the ability to swim, drive a boat and provide first aid.

As a reminder, on May 9, the Russian occupation authorities dressed up children as soldiers in kindergartens in the annexed Crimea.

Earlier, in the occupied Crimea, the Russian authorities refused to hold mass events on May 9, explaining it by "security reasons". Amid regular attacks by the Ukrainian Defense Forces on military facilities on the peninsula, the occupiers canceled parades, rallies, and the Immortal Regiment event.

In addition, last year, the occupied Sevastopol canceled the May 9 parade, claiming security threats after a Ukrainian maritime drone shot down a Su-30 fighter jet. Ukraine warned that it could not guarantee the safety of foreign guests at Russian events. This was the first time a maritime drone has shot down an airplane. The cost of the downed Su-30 was estimated at $50 million.
