SBU investigators in Kherson region have officially served a notice of suspicion to local resident Iryna Kolesnik. According to law enforcement officials, during the occupation of the city, the woman voluntarily agreed to cooperate with the enemy and took the position of director of the library, which the invaders illegally created on the basis of the seized Kherson Regional Universal Scientific Library named after Oles Honchar.

This is stated in the text of the suspicion, which is published on the website of the Prosecutor General's Office.

Law enforcement officers found that Kolesnik became the head of the occupation institution in the summer of 2022. In this position, she actively implemented Russian standards in the library network and publicly supported the actions of the aggressor country. In her interviews with propaganda resources, including the Tavria channel, the suspect called Kherson a Russian city and accused Ukrainian book collections of promoting Nazism and nationalism.

After the de-occupation of the right-bank part of the region, the woman fled to Genichesk, where she continued to work for the invaders as part of the occupation administration. There, she coordinated the integration of libraries into the legal framework of the Russian Federation and reported on their modernization. In particular, in the fall of 2024, the suspect held meetings with representatives of the Russian National Library to strengthen cooperation with the occupiers.

Currently, Iryna Kolesnik is charged with collaboration, encroachment on the territorial integrity of Ukraine, and justification of Russia's armed aggression. In accordance with Part 6 of Article 111-1, Part 1 of Article 110 and Part 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
