In Mykolaiv, the prosecutor's office opened a criminal investigation into the city council's decision to liquidate kindergarten No. 138. Law enforcement officials are checking whether there was any abuse of power or official position in the decision-making process.
This was reported by MikVisti with reference to the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
According to the publication, the proceedings were opened on May 4 under Part 1 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Police Department No. 1 of the Mykolaiv District Police Department, and procedural supervision is being carried out by the Mykolaiv District Prosecutor's Office.
The investigation was initiated following a complaint filed by Svitlana Fedorova, a former member of the Mykolaiv Regional Council.
The prosecutor's office noted that the pre-trial investigation is currently underway and the necessary investigative actions are being taken to fully examine the circumstances of the case.
As a reminder, on April 30, after lengthy debate, members of the Mykolaiv City Council supported the liquidation of only one preschool institution - kindergarten No. 138 on Oleh Kravets Street. The decision to close kindergartens #104 and #128 did not receive enough votes.
The education department explained the initiative by the lack of shelters in the institutions and the inability to equip them. At the same time, the head of the relevant commission, Hanna Nord, stated that the buildings of the kindergartens would remain in the ownership of the community, and the further fate of the premises would be determined separately.
The decision to liquidate the kindergartens sparked a heated debate among the deputies and citizens. Some deputies supported the closure due to the cost of maintaining empty buildings during the war, while others warned that the city may face a shortage of places in kindergartens after the end of hostilities.
Earlier, the Mykolaiv City Council decided to reorganize the city's medical network on a large scale. It provides for the merger of hospitals into a single structure and the transfer of one of the maternity hospitals to the ownership of the region.
