In Odesa, law enforcement officials uncovered a operation producing sportswear with counterfeit logos of well-known brands. The counterfeit items were sold online and at the “7 Kilometers” industrial goods market.
The Center for Public Investigations uncovered the details of the case.
According to the investigation, representatives of Puma SE and Nike Innovate C.V. contacted the Bureau of Economic Security (BEB) in the Odesa region. They reported the illegal use of trademarks in the advertising and sale of products that were not genuine.
According to investigators, a group operating in Odesa was manufacturing sportswear bearing the Puma and Nike logos. To do this, they used sewing and other industrial equipment, heat presses, printing plates, hardware, tags, labels, and packaging designed to imitate the original products.
The finished items were sold online, including through Viber groups and an Instagram page, as well as directly at the “7 Kilometer” market in Avangard.
Law enforcement officials documented the sale of such clothing on two occasions. In November 2025, the items included hoodies, pants, and windbreakers, and in May 2026, they included T-shirts and shorts.
An intellectual property expert examined the purchased items. He determined that the items did not match the original products, particularly in terms of their appearance and the design of the tags and internal labels.
During a search of the premises on Balkivska Street, law enforcement officers seized sewing and industrial machines, heat presses, a plotter, printers, computer equipment, and a significant quantity of clothing bearing the logos of Nike, Puma, Adidas, Stone Island, New Balance, Under Armour, The North Face, and Columbia.
In addition, they seized tags, labels, patches, hardware, and 372 rolls of heat-sealable film bearing brand logos.
Also in May, a scheme was uncovered in Odesa involving the import of goods under the guise of humanitarian aid for subsequent resale. All of the cargo, which according to the documents was intended for displaced persons, was in fact sold through retail outlets at the “7 Kilometers” market.
