Crimean Tatar director makes a movie about a covert operation of the GUR

A movie about those who work in the shadows but change the course of the war is being shot in the capital. A new film by Crimean Tatar director Akhtem Seitablaev will reveal the story of brave people whose operations were classified as "secret" until recently.

This was reported by the Crimean Tatar Resource Center.

The shooting of the feature film GUR. Code: Sikora" - a movie about one of the heroic special operations of the Ukrainian military intelligence. The project is being created with the support of the Ukrainian State Film Agency, and the premiere is scheduled for 2026.

The film is directed and starred by Crimean Tatar actor and serviceman of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Territorial Defense Forces Akhtem Seitablaev. His participation gives the film a special meaning, as it not only shows the story of the courage of Ukrainian intelligence officers, but is also part of the struggle for the freedom of Ukraine and the liberation of his native Crimea.

The film is being produced by TRO Media team together with EF Films on request of UnitedContentHUB. Not only professional actors, but also veterans and active military personnel, including members of the Veterans Theater and defenders who were wounded in combat, are involved in the filming.

The first teaser of the film was shown back in May at the Cannes Film Market Marché du Film, and the international version was shown in September during the Ukrainian Day at the Venice Film Festival.

Although the creators have not yet disclosed all the details, it is known that the plot is based on real events. The film will tell the story of an intelligence officer, full of tension, risk, devotion and heroism.

Last year, actor, director and serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine of Crimean Tatar origin Akhtem Seitablaev was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Ukraine. He is known for his work on the films Khaytarma, Someone Else's Prayer, Cyborgs and others. His acting credits include more than 25 roles in films and TV series.

In June, the global initiative UNITED24 presented a documentary about a covert operation by the Ukrainian special forces unit NOBODY, which is part of the Timur Special Forces of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine. The film tells the story of a military raid on the Russian-seized Petro Godovanets drilling platform in the Black Sea, an operation that changed the balance of power in the northwestern part of the water area.
