Two civilian commercial vessels flying the flags of Palau and Barbados were damaged in the port of Odesa region as a result of a night attack by Russian drones on March 20.
This was reported by the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper.
The vessels were moored at the berths and loaded with grain. Administrative buildings were also damaged. Two people were injured on the vessels. In addition, a grain bunker and equipment were damaged in the port. Rescuers extinguished the fires. The vessels remained afloat.
On the night of March 20, starting at 18:00 on March 19, Russians attacked Ukraine with 156 Shahed, Gerbera, Italmass and other types of attack drones. According to preliminary data, as of 8:00 a.m., air defense defenses had neutralized 133 enemy drones. However, 19 strike drones were recorded at 13 locations, and downed drones were recorded at seven locations.
The night before, Russian drones massively attacked Odesa. Multi-storey buildings and private homes were damaged, there are victims, and the aftermath of the attack is being addressed. The strike hit residential buildings in different parts of the city. At least two multi-storey buildings, a residential building in the central historical part of Odesa, and a number of private sector buildings were damaged. In addition, non-residential infrastructure was also damaged.
In Kyiv district, a 22-storey residential building and a dormitory of a university were damaged, with about 180 windows smashed. The headquarters was deployed at night, around 01:10. More than 40 employees of public utilities and special equipment were involved in the aftermath. Work is currently underway to close the windows with film and OSB boards. One victim was treated on the spot.
