Law enforcement officers have sent to court an indictment against a former employee of the State Emergency Service who is suspected of treason.

This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Investigators found that the accused is the former head of a fire and rescue unit of the SES. In July 2022, he agreed to cooperate with the enemy and took up the position of the so-called "Head of the Novotroitsk District Department of the Service for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Management of the Kherson Region." Later, he became the "Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Kherson region".

In these positions, the man exercised general management and selected personnel to work in the service. In addition, as a representative of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, he participated in mass events dedicated to the state holidays of the aggressor country, and helped to spread the authority of illegally created bodies among the population of the occupied territories.

Therefore, under the procedural supervision of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, an indictment against the suspect on high treason and voluntary holding a position in an illegal law enforcement agency was sent to court.

Earlier, law enforcement officers said that a 22-year-old resident of Kherson joined the ranks of the illegal armed forum "State Security Service of Kherson Region". According to the investigation, the suspect is a cadet of one of the higher education institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

Before that, prosecutors of the Kherson Regional and Genichesk District Prosecutor's Offices sent an indictment to the court against a resident of the region for collaboration.

A local resident, who headed the"Department of Culture" of the occupation administration of Kherson, was also served with a notice of suspicion. According to the investigation, in July 2022, the 65-year-old suspect agreed to the proposal of the occupation authorities and took the position of the so-called "head of the Department of Culture" in the "Kherson Territorial Community Administration".

It was also reported that during the temporary seizure of Kherson by the Russian military, a 48-year-old local resident agreed to cooperate with the occupiers. The defendant took the position of the so-called "chief physician" in a medical institution illegally created by the invaders.
