Liudmyla Polishchuk, a longtime employee of the Odesa Archaeological Museum who had devoted more than half a century to museum work, has passed away in Odesa. She was not only the keeper of unique collections, but also a mentor for several generations of scientists.

On April 21, 2026, Liudmyla Polishchuk, a well-known museum worker, researcher, and longtime employee of the Odesa Archaeological Museum, died in Odesa. Her professional career has been inextricably linked to this institution since 1976 and has become an example of dedicated service to the preservation of historical heritage.
For decades, she worked in the museum's collections, where she was engaged in the preservation and study of archaeological collections. In 2005, she was appointed Chief Curator, responsible for the unique exhibits and their scientific processing. Her work played an important role in preserving the cultural heritage of southern Ukraine.
According to the museum, the scientist paid special attention to the study of Trypillian culture. She took part in numerous archaeological expeditions, including working with materials from monuments in the Dniester and Southern Bug rivers. Her contribution to the study of ancient civilizations has left a significant mark on the scientific community.
Colleagues and students remember Liudmyla Polishchuk as a person who sincerely shared her knowledge and experience, supported young scientists and students. For many, she became a mentor and an example of professional dedication.
The museum emphasizes that she will forever be remembered as a person who lived her life, cherished history and the people around her.
Also in March, actor Vasyl Skromnyi, who was remembered by millions of viewers for his role as the hooligan Makar Gusev in the cult Soviet film The Adventures of Elektronik, passed away in Odesa. It was his character with a hoarse voice and a defiant personality who became one of the most vivid characters in the film, which was watched by schoolchildren in the 1980s.
