The Executive Committee of the Izmail City Council has decided to establish the City Social Space. It is intended to provide comprehensive social support to war veterans and their families, families of fallen defenders, citizens in difficult life circumstances, and other vulnerable groups.
This is reported by Intent with reference to the decision of the executive committee No. 492 of June 20.
The social space is planned to be located on the ground floor of an apartment building at 2 Evropeiska Street (formerly Gagarin Street).
The City Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Population and the Izmail Center for Social Services were instructed to provide algorithms for the interaction of services that provide social support to the above-mentioned vulnerable categories of Izmail residents and will be involved in organizing the work of the City Social Space.
A little bit of history. In Soviet times, a general store was located on the ground floor of the building at what is now Evropeiska Street, 2. Later, it was rented to a store called "Everything for Fishing and Outdoor Activities." At the beginning of 2017, the city authorities announced their intention to relocate the antenatal clinic here after the renovation. But a year later, the plans changed.
They decided to use the premises on Evropeiska Street to house the city's inclusive resource center, which was being created at the time. Another related institution, the Center for the Rehabilitation of Children with Disabilities, was to become a neighbor. Eventually, they started renovating the building. The Inclusive Resource Center was allegedly temporarily housed in the premises of school No. 6 (now Izmail Lyceum with gymnasium No. 6), although it was legally registered at the address at 2 Evropeiska Street.
An Intent journalist inspected the building, for which the city has changed its plans once again. The premises on the ground floor are mothballed after renovation. There are metal bars on the windows. There are no signs or pointers indicating the location of any institution.
