Detention and Arrests in Ukraine
Detention is a temporary preventive measure by which pre-trial investigation bodies deprive a person of liberty for a certain period in order to prevent a crime, stop it, or ensure criminal proceedings. Detention may be carried out on the basis of a ruling by an investigating judge or in exceptional cases without such a ruling, in particular when a criminal offense is committed or immediately after it. This page contains news about the detention of persons in various criminal cases, including cases related to war crimes, theft, weapons storage, and other offenses.
