Russian woman's land plots confiscated in Crimea

An Odesa court returned to state ownership two land plots in Crimea that previously belonged to a Russian citizen. The confiscation was the result of a court decision on the claim of the prosecutor's office.
This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.
The Prymorskyi District Court of Odesa returned two land plots previously owned by a Russian citizen to the state. The court's decision of September 2024 satisfied the claim of the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol to confiscate agricultural land.
The total area of the land plots is more than 3.6 hectares and they are located in the Nizhnegorsk district of Crimea.
According to the investigation, the woman received these plots on the basis of certificates of inheritance. However, she did not comply with the requirement of the Land Code of Ukraine regarding the mandatory alienation of such land within a year, as she is a foreigner.
The court's decision has now been enforced: the land plots have been confiscated into state ownership, and information about them has been entered into the State Register of Real Property Rights. The press service of the prosecutor' s office emphasized that this decision is an important step in regaining control over Ukrainian land in the temporarily occupied territories.
The occupation authorities in Crimea have also launched a large-scale campaign of land expropriation. Both Ukrainian citizens and foreigners have been targeted - their plots are being taken away under the pretext of defense needs, border control, and unclaimed shares.
The seizures are carried out through administrative pressure, judicial manipulation and the application of Russian laws that have no legitimacy on Ukrainian territory. As of 2025, at least 135 cases of such expropriation have been documented. One of the areas of expropriation was the seizure of unclaimed shares - land plots that the owners did not have time to register as private property.
Since January 1, 2025, the occupiers have been able to recognize such plots as "no one's" without a court and transfer them to municipal ownership. By June, about 39 thousand hectares had already been taken away in this way.
