Law enforcement officers have served a former official of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi housing and maintenance unit with a notice of suspicion of official negligence.

This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa Oblast.

According to the investigation, the land use engineer of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi KEC did not ensure proper control over the use of a part of the state land plot registered with this organization and transferred to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine for permanent use. As a result, between October 2022 and July 2023, more than 24.7 hectares of land were illegally used for growing crops. This caused the state losses of more than UAH 3 million.

The housing and maintenance departments and units (KEV and KECH) organize the housing and maintenance support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine - a set of measures aimed at the safe operation, maintenance of barracks and housing, social and cultural facilities, communal facilities and engineering networks of military camps, and the provision of military units with housing.

"Investigators have served the suspect a notice of suspicion of official negligence under Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This crime is punishable by up to five years in prison with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years and a fine of up to UAH 12,750," said Vitaliy Omelchenko, head of the Investigation Department.

In May, law enforcement officers in Odesa region tried to get a court to seize a land plot and crops involved in a proceeding to seize land belonging to the Ministry of Defense in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district of Odesa region.
