Machinations with land and embezzlement
Land fraud schemes are illegal operations involving state or municipal land ownership carried out by officials and employees of government and local self-government bodies. Such schemes include illegal alienation of land plots, transfer of lands to private individuals or companies without following proper procedures, document falsification, and abuse of official position. The problem is particularly acute in Ukrainian regions, where control over land resources is often used for personal enrichment. Investigation of such cases is an important part of combating corruption at the local level.
