The contractors have completed the repair of the drainage system and leveled the sagging tram rails on Blazhka Descent, and now traffic is actually open there.

The only thing left to do is to apply road markings, Dumskaya reports.

As for the launch of the North-South tram route, the rails will need to be tested after the completion of the work on the descent. In addition, the reconstruction of the tram ring on 28th Brigade (Paustovsky) Street is underway, so the exact timing of the resumption of route 7 currently depends on the progress of these works.

Earlier, the head of Odesa City Hall, Gennadiy Trukhanov, extended the temporary ban on vehicle traffic on Vitaliy Blazhko (formerly Marinesko) descent. The Department of Transport, Communications and Traffic Organization of the Odesa City Council was supposed to change the city's public transportation scheme for the period of the traffic ban.

Last October, the Capital Construction Department of the Odesa City Council held a tender for the construction of a new drainage system for the descent. The only bidder was Rostdorstroy LLC. The final beneficiaries of Rostdorstroy LLC are currently Yuriy Shumacher, a member of the Odesa City Council and representative of Gennadiy Trukhanov's Trust the Deeds party, and businessman Yevhen Konovalov.

Earlier, Petro Obukhov, a city council deputy and chairman of the committee on transport, traffic and communications, announced the municipality's intention to resume tram service on the North-South route in August, which was interrupted by a landslide on Vitaliy Blazhko descent. According to the deputy, the contractor is completing the track and is preparing to obtain a permit to resume traffic.

According to him, the modern trams that the city received from its Western partners were constantly experiencing problems - they were going off the rails. It turned out that the reason was not a defect in the trams, but the condition of the old tracks. So now, in the most problematic areas, the cars will move more slowly.
