A former Ukrainian security officer who defected to the occupiers has been notified of being suspected of treason. We are talking about a sambo wrestler and former employee of the Ukrainian Security Service, Igor Zadernovsky, who started working in the occupation unit of the FSB in Crimea after 2014.

This was reported by the Center for Investigative Journalism.

Zadernovsky, a native of the village of Abrikosivka (Crimea), began serving in the Russian-established "FSB office" in Simferopol in March 2014. He held the position of senior security officer and had the rank of "senior sergeant".

After the full-scale invasion in 2022, Zadernovsky distinguished himself by participating in the occupation of the Kherson region. Until November 2022, he interrogated prisoners, including pro-Ukrainian activists and civilians held in colony #90. He also agitated residents of the occupied territories to obtain Russian passports and participate in a pseudo-referendum.

He was charged with high treason (Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), which provides for up to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Interestingly, Zadernovsky was previously put on the wanted list for desertion under Article 408(1) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Recently, the court announced the sentence of former Ukrainian athlete from Crimea Olga Davydko for aiding the aggressor state. She was sentenced in absentia to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The case of the former commander of the missile boat"Pryluky", Captain 2nd rank, who in May 2014, during the occupation of Crimea, refused to bring the boat to the mainland of Ukraine, as well as to perform military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was also brought to court. Later, he signed a contract for military service in the Russian Armed Forces as the commander of the small missile boat Project 21631 Vyshny Volochek.

Before that, former Major of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anatoliy Bilous was accused of defecting to the enemy and desertion.
