A resident of the Kherson region was sentenced in absentia to 10 years in prison for collaborating with the occupiers. He held senior positions in the illegal administration, implemented the agrarian policy of the Russian Federation and publicly supported the occupation regime.

This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

A resident of Kherson region was sentenced in absentia to 10 years in prison for collaborating with the Russian occupiers. He was found guilty of collaboration (Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) for supporting the public prosecution of the Kherson Regional and Genichesk District Prosecutor's Offices.

The court sentenced him to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property. In addition, the convicted person will not be able to hold positions in state and local government and engage in public activities for 15 years.

The investigation proved that the man deliberately cooperated with the occupation administration. In March 2023, he agreed to take the position of "first deputy head of the Genichesk military-civilian administration" created by the invaders. He was subsequently promoted to "Deputy Head of the Government of the Kherson Region," where he was responsible for agriculture and fisheries.

While in this position, the traitor implemented the aggressor country's policy in agriculture. He organized control over land resources, facilitated the re-registration of enterprises according to Russian standards, and introduced the rules for the export of agricultural products established in Russia. He also carried out orders from the so-called governor and head of the government, in particular regarding the distribution of tariff quotas and property management.

In addition, he participated in industry events in Russia, representing the occupation administration and actually integrating the agricultural economy of the region into the system of the aggressor state. The convict also publicly supported the propaganda initiatives of the invaders and encouraged representatives of the cultural sphere of the Kherson region to cooperate with them.

The verdict was passed in absentia - without the presence of the accused in the courtroom. He will serve his sentence after being detained by Ukrainian law enforcement.

Oleksandr Vetrov was suspected of collaboration back in September 2024. According to media reports, he held senior positions in the government and headed the Velyko Oleksandrivsk district organization of the Social Democratic Party of Ukraine (United), which is associated with fascist and totalitarian ideas.

In 2004-2005, Vetrov was the head of the Velyko Oleksandrivsk District State Administration, and later the regional environmental protection department. From 2012 to 2023, he headed the Dzharylhach National Nature Park, and since 2015, he has been the head of Ecobiotek LLC, a logging company. The co-owner of this company is Andriy Murashkin, a lawyer of the former head of the Kherson Regional Council Vladyslav Manger.

The court also convicted a collaborator who worked in a commercial seaport created by the invaders and helped the Russian military during the occupation of Kherson. The man was imprisoned and all his property was confiscated.
