During 2024, the military successfully organized the passage of 9061 civilian vessels through the sea corridor, which facilitated the export of more than 70 million tons of cargo, including agricultural products.

This was reported by the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the military, 4651 ships arrived at Ukrainian ports, while 4410 ships sailed to other maritime destinations. This result was made possible thanks to the constant work of the Navy, which ensured the safety of navigation in times of war.

Through this maritime corridor, Ukraine was able to export more than 74.4 million tons of cargo, including agricultural products, which is critical to maintaining the country's economy and food security in the world. It is estimated that the sea route is the main way to transport almost 80% of cargo, so the security of the sea corridor is crucial for the country.

Thanks to the efforts of the Navy, which constantly patrolled and provided escorts for cargo ships, a large number of "drifting" mines that threatened ships were destroyed.

The military noted that during all this time, not a single case of explosion on sea mines was recorded in the ports.

Recently, the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine outlined the main tasks for 2025, including the development of ports in Odesa region and the Danube port cluster. The key areas include ensuring the operation of critical infrastructure in the face of attacks, supporting communities and regions, restoring housing, and attracting international funding for reconstruction.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated €50 million of EU budget support to repair and improve port infrastructure, including the port of Odesa. Since the beginning of 2024, the volume of cargo handled by Ukrainian seaports has amounted to 91.1 million tons, of which 89.9 million tons were handled between January and November.

Recently, the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company failed to sell six vessels of its fleet, which were put up for sale as a single lot with a starting price of UAH 440 million 680 thousand 132. No one wanted to buy the repaired Vilkovo and Izmail, as well as Tatarbunary, Viana do Castelo, Kiliya and Reni, which had been idle for a long time.
