In 2025, the Security Police Department in Mykolaiv Oblast spent millions of budget hryvnias on fuel, alarms, workwear, office furniture, and household items such as blinds, diaries, and kitchen furniture. In just four months of 2025, the institution spent at least UAH 27.9 million on procurement.

Journalists from the Center for Public Investigations used the Zakupivli.pro platform to investigate what the Mykolaiv Oblast Police Department of Protection spent its budget on in 2025. The expenses turned out to be quite diverse - from household goods to million-dollar purchases of overalls.

The department started the year with the purchase of mail transportation services - UAH 80 thousand was allocated for this. The first household expenses included roller blinds, curtain rods (131 thousand), fuel wood (98 thousand), water (70 thousand), internet (64 thousand), Kyivstar (128 thousand) and Ukrtelecom (94 thousand).

Funds were also allocated for staff training: Brazilian jiu-jitsu training for personnel was estimated at UAH 21.6 thousand.

Electricity cost more than UAH 779 thousand, and water supply cost UAH 21,250. No expense was spared for office equipment and accessories: a wireless router cost 60 thousand, diaries - 52.5 thousand, calendars - 46.5 thousand, and office furniture - almost 300 thousand. Built-in kitchen furniture cost almost 100 thousand, and its installation cost 88,860 UAH. More than 600 thousand was spent on refilling cartridges and repairing printing equipment.

More than 96 thousand hryvnias were spent on pre-trip medical examinations of drivers in Bashtanka, Yuzhnoukrainsk, Ochakiv, Pervomaisk, Koblevo and Novyi Buh. Another UAH 384 thousand was spent on regular medical examinations of drivers in February.

Mobile communications for security devices cost over UAH 1.7 million. We also purchased 40 Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 tablets for 586 thousand.

Fuel cost more than UAH 9 million (A-95 - almost UAH 9.05 million), and another UAH 100 thousand was spent on tires. Another 70 thousand was spent on repairs, including garage overhauls (74 thousand), window repairs (11 thousand), server room repairs (99 thousand), power grids (over 99 thousand), and fixtures.

General cleaning of police premises cost over 76 thousand hryvnias.

The largest expenditures were spent on repair and maintenance of vehicles (4.5 million), fire and burglar alarm equipment (4.8 million), and the purchase of special uniforms (3.6 million hryvnias).

Such expenditures demonstrate that in the field of law enforcement, a significant portion of the budget is spent not only on security, but also on comfort and workplace amenities. Whether all of these purchases were really necessary is a question that we will leave to the readers and controlling authorities.

Also in 2024, the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration spent funds from the local budget for various needs. In total, more than UAH 36 million was planned for procurement. In addition, theMykolaiv Parksutility company spent the most money on purchasing machinery, equipment, and maintaining the city's green areas.
