Yulia Nikandrova, the former head of the Odessa Children’s Services Agency, has joined the Verkhovna Rada’s Temporary Investigative Commission, which is investigating possible violations of children’s rights in the state’s child protection policy.

She announced this on her Facebook page.

“As an expert, I have been included in the Temporary Investigative Commission of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to investigate possible violations of children’s rights in the formulation and implementation of state policy regarding the protection of children’s rights, social support for families with children, and the development of family-based forms of upbringing and adoption,” Nikandrova said.

She noted that she will serve on the commission alongside Serhiy Kukhtin, who has also been appointed to the TSC as an expert.

The former official also thanked the commission’s chair, People’s Deputy Pavlo Sushko, for his trust and for the opportunity to contribute to efforts aimed at protecting the rights of Ukrainian children.

Yulia Nikandrova is a journalist by profession. She has worked for television and radio stations, headed the press service of the Odesa National Law Academy, and served as a spokesperson for the municipal online platform “Socially Active Citizen.”

On October 30, 2019, Nikandrova was appointed head of the city’s Children’s Services Agency, replacing Irina Damaskina.

In August 2024, Nikandrova stepped down from her position.
