Some schools in Mykolaiv will continue with distance learning

Twelve schools in Mykolaiv will operate entirely online during the new school year. The remaining schools will return to in-person or hybrid learning.

Information about the organization of the educational process was published on the Mykolaiv City Council website.

The school year in Mykolaiv will begin on September 1, 2026, and will last until June 30, 2027.

The Executive Committee has approved the organization of the educational process in the city’s general secondary education institutions. Instruction will take place in three formats:

• 12 schools—remote learning;
• 7 schools—blended learning;
• 45 schools—in-person.

“The format of instruction was determined by the pedagogical councils of each institution, prioritizing the safety of children and staff and the ability to provide a high-quality educational experience,”<span>said</span> Svitlana Makarova, deputy head of the City Council’s Department of Education.

If the security situation worsens, the learning format may be changed. The relevant decisions will be made by the pedagogical councils of the educational institutions.

The city continues to prepare schools for the new school year so that children can receive an education in the safest and most comfortable conditions possible.

Earlier, Hanna Lychko, head of the Mykolaiv City Council’s Department of Education, reported that due to an increase in attacks by “suicide” rockets, the city is considering changing how the educational process is organized in schools.

Among the possible changes are two-shift classes in shelters and the start of classes at 7:30 a.m.

It has also been reported that the building of Lyceum No. 38 in Mykolaiv will not open on September 1. Renovations on the shelter are still underway, and the work is currently scheduled to be completed in early December 2026.
