Russians kidnapped Crimean political prisoner Lemeshko: he was supposed to return home from prison but disappeared

Crimean political prisoner Gennadiy Limeshko, who was supposed to be released in February this year after eight years in prison, went missing after being transferred from the Center for Temporary Detention of Foreigners in Rostov Region. For several months now, neither his wife nor human rights activists have any information about his whereabouts.

This was reported to the Crimean Tatar Resource Center by Gennadiy's wife Irina Limeshko.

The name of Gennadiy Limeshko appeared in the updated list of so-called "terrorists and extremists" on the website of Rosfinmonitoring. He was added to the list after his sentence had been completed, which causes additional concern for his family.

Unfortunately, Gennadiy was one of the many who did not have a new photo pasted in their Ukrainian passports. This is a systemic problem that is actively exploited by the Russian Federation: if a person reaches 25 or 45 years of age during imprisonment and is unable to update the document, the passport is recognized as invalid. In this way, the Russian Federation blocks the return home.

The CTRC notes that this practice allows the repressive system of the Russian Federation to illegally keep people in a state of indefinite isolation even after formal "release".

The Crimean Tatar Resource Center will continue to monitor the case of Gennadiy Limeshko and will facilitate his return to Ukraine.

We also wrote about the captured Ukrainianchaplains from Odesa, who were in enemy captivity.

In captivity, they were constantly accused of being saboteurs, not priests, who allegedly wanted to blow up Zmeinyi Island. The prisoners were also threatened with imprisonment for up to 15 years. During their stay in the brig - more than 10 days - the prisoners were taken out of the musty cell for a walk only a couple of times for 15 minutes.
