Today, Russian shelling claimed the life of Pavlo Matviyets, a volunteer with the NGO "Strong and Free". He was only 23 years old.

This was reported by Roman Mrochko, head of the Kherson MBA.

Despite his young age, Pavlo did a lot for his hometown. He was actively involved in volunteer work: he delivered humanitarian aid, helped to clear the rubble, and took out the garbage left after the occupiers' attacks. Pasha was always among the first to respond to the needs of the community.

His family, friends, colleagues, and the entire volunteer community will remember Pavlo as a man with a cheerful disposition and a big patriotic heart.

"For the Kherson region, this is not only a personal loss, but also a painful blow to everyone who knew and worked with Pavlo," Roman Mrochko wrote.

"Unfortunately, this is not the only tragic event as a result of today's shelling. Several other civilians were injured in Kherson:

Earlier, Intent wrote that last night at midnight, the occupiers shelled the Dniprovsky district of Kherson, as a result of which a 46-year-old woman who was in the building received an explosive injury, contusion and shrapnel wounds to her limbs. The victim is currently under medical supervision, her condition is assessed as moderate.

On the morning of December 30, Russian terrorists attacked employees and equipment of public utilities in Kherson with a drone. A 50-year-old man was injured as a result of the drone attack on utility workers. He suffered contusion, explosive and closed head injuries.

In November, the Russian military attacked a public transportation stop in Antonivka with a drone and dropped explosives on a local man. In total, 1 person was killed and 9 others were injured that day as a result of Russian aggression. In general, the enemy is shelling residents of Kherson region around the clock. On December 27, the Russians attacked people several times with drones. As a result of Russian aggression, 5 people were injured.

Last week, the Ukrainian Defense Forces thwarted the plans of the Russian occupiers to land sabotage and reconnaissance groups near Kherson in the right-bank part of Kherson region. On that day, Kherson suffered the largest shelling since 2022. The explosions did not stop from four in the morning. Russian troops fired from all types of weapons available to them, firing more than 1,000 shells. There is not a single neighborhood that was not affected.

Most of the strikes hit residential areas. Rescuers extinguished more than a dozen fires. Medics, law enforcement and utility workers were on the scene. At the same time, pro-Russian telegram channels were actively spreading fake reports about the alleged forced evacuation of Kherson residents. However, this information was untrue and aimed at creating panic among the population. The head of Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration Vitaliy Kim assured of his readiness to help Kherson residents if necessary.
