During the temporary occupation, a 65-year-old resident of Rakivka helped the enemy resettle Russian soldiers in the abandoned houses of his fellow villagers.

This was reported by the police of the Kherson region.

According to Pavlo Mazurchak, deputy head of the Beryslav District Police Department, law enforcement officers learned that a 65-year-old resident of Rakivka learned information about the abandoned houses in the village between March and July 2022. After that, he provided this information to representatives of the aggressor country and ensured the resettlement of Russian military personnel in these residential buildings. The police also learned that one day, while being with the Russian military near the administrative building of a local school, the defendant took away the keys to the gym from the director of the school. After that, the Russian military lived there and equipped an ammunition depot.

Investigators classified the criminal actions of the defendant as aiding the aggressor state. Now, in agreement with the local district prosecutor's office, he has been served a notice of suspicion in absentia. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 10 to 12 years with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of 10 to 15 years and with or without confiscation of property. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

The police also added that the court is currently considering a case of collaboration against the man.

Earlier, law enforcement officers said that a 22-year-old resident of Kherson joined the ranks of the illegal armed forum "State Security Service of Kherson Region". According to the investigation, the suspect is a cadet of one of the higher education institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
