In 2025, the situation with water resources in the occupied Crimea deteriorated significantly. According to the latest data, the filling of natural runoff reservoirs has decreased by 34 million cubic meters.

This was reported by Krym.Realii.

As of the end of December, the total water reserves in these facilities amounted to about 100 million cubic meters, which is a critical indicator for meeting the needs of the peninsula.

According to the monitoring data presented by Professor Ilya Nikolenko from the so-called "KFU", the filling of the reservoirs of natural runoff is currently moving on a downward curve. Although 4 million cubic meters of water were supplied to the facilities by December 24, the overall dynamics remains negative. In 2025, the total reserves decreased by 34 million cubic meters, even taking into account all inflows, which indicates the beginning of another low water cycle.

As of the end of December, 88 million cubic meters of water were accumulated in natural runoff reservoirs. This figure is in the critical zone between the long-term average of 132 million cubic meters and the historical minimum of 35 million cubic meters. For comparison, at its peak, the reserves reached 224 million cubic meters (about 88%), but now the system is rapidly losing its resource.

According to experts, the current water level indicates an inevitable approach to the dry period. As the reservoirs are well below average as of the end of the year, this poses significant risks to the peninsula's stable water supply next season, especially for regions that depend solely on natural precipitation and river flow.

Of particular concern is the state of the Izobilne Reservoir, which is the main source of water for Alushta. Currently, it is only 19% full, which is approximately 2.4 million cubic meters. The dynamics of inflows in December is extremely low: only 586 thousand cubic meters were received in the first 24 days of the month, and by the end of the year, the total December figure is expected to not exceed 757 thousand cubic meters.
