In the first quarter of 2026, Ukrainian ports in Odesa region fulfilled the plan for cargo transshipment by 98%, which is 21.1 million tons of cargo.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine.
The port industry continues to operate amid a significant escalation of security threats and regular shelling. Since the beginning of this year, seaports have been attacked on average every five days. The shelling has damaged 193 port infrastructure facilities and 25 civilian vessels.
"Ukrainian seaports continue to operate in extremely difficult conditions. Thousands of people who keep the ports operating every day under the threat of shelling are behind this. Grain traditionally accounts for the largest cargo flow - 11.6 million tons of cargo. This once again confirms that Ukraine continues to ensure the food security of the world," said Oleksiy Kuleba, Minister of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine.
In addition to grains, the transshipment of metal products also remained stable at 1.2 million tons. The container segment demonstrates the highest growth dynamics: over 63 thousand TEUs were handled in three months, which is 43.3% more than in the same period last year.
In the first quarter of 2025, Ukrainian ports handled 20.7 million tons of cargo. In total, since the start of the Ukrainian Sea Corridor in September 2023, it has transported more than 190 million tons of cargo, including more than 110 tons of grain.
On the morning of April 14, Russian forces attacked the civilian ship Lady Maris with attack drones as it was heading to the port of Chornomorsk in Odesa region to load Ukrainian corn.
