The Mykolaiv and Odesa regions ranked second and third in Ukraine in terms of the number of registered agricultural companies. At the same time, both regions remain among those with the highest military risks for agribusiness.

This is according to a study by the YC.Market analytics team.

The largest number of agricultural companies is registered in Kyiv—11,577. Mykolaiv Oblast ranked second with 4,933 companies, and Odesa Oblast ranked third with 4,665.

The Dnipropetrovsk and Kyiv regions also made it into the top five, with 4,200 companies each.

Analysts note that the capital’s leadership does not mean that production is concentrated specifically in Kyiv—management and sales structures are registered there, while fields, farms, and grain elevators may be located in other regions.

"It is telling that the Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions—areas with high military risks—continue to rank among the top ten. This indicates that the historically established registration geography of agribusiness remains intact, YC.Market explained.

According to estimates by the Ministry of Economy, direct physical losses to the Ukrainian agricultural sector as a result of Russian aggression exceeded $11 billion—this includes destroyed equipment, grain elevators, grain storage facilities, and logistics infrastructure.

During the first months of 2026, the ports of Greater Odesa suffered more than 180 strikes, and at certain times their export capacity dropped by 20–30%.

According to the FAO, the main constraints for frontline territories remain damage to agricultural infrastructure, land contaminated with explosive ordnance, a labor shortage, and rising costs.

In the first half of 2026, the agricultural sector recorded 3,415 new registrations and 1,673 closures. The net increase was 1,742 entities—nearly 40% more than a year earlier.

The main source of growth was individual entrepreneurs: their net balance increased 2.4-fold, while among companies, net growth decreased by 11%.

A Mykolaiv-based company made it into the top 10 by revenue

Among the ten largest agricultural companies by net revenue was the Mykolaiv-based joint ventureNIBULON LLC, which generated 12.2 billion hryvnias in revenue during the first half of the year. At the same time, the company posted the largest net loss among the top ten—2.6 billion hryvnias.

Overall, the top ten agricultural companies generated 159.4 billion hryvnias in revenue, however, five of the ten largest companies ended the half-year with a loss, and the combined net financial result of the top 10 was a loss of 5.9 billion hryvnias.
