In Odesa region, two local residents will be tried in court on charges of sabotage, intentional damage to property and obstruction of the legitimate work of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office, the indictment has already been sent to court.
The investigation established that the men received an order via Telegram from a representative of the Russian special services to commit arson and sabotage in the region. Following these instructions, in July 2024, they set fire to three relay cabinets, a transformer substation, and a vehicle of an Armed Forces serviceman.
According to the scheme, the attackers would arrive at the facilities, pour flammable liquids on them, set them on fire, and shoot video to report to their supervisor. Some of these recordings later appeared in pro-Russian Telegram channels to create fake news stories about the alleged activities of the anti-Ukrainian underground in Odesa.
For their work, the suspects received remuneration in cryptocurrency, which they transferred to specially created electronic wallets.
The detainees are two residents of Odesa region, aged 20 and 24, and are currently in custody.
Earlier, Intent wrote that a group of saboteurs who tried to disrupt the work of the Odesa Railways for money were in the dock. They received the task from the Russian special services.
By the way, SBU officers exposed and detained a saboteur of Russian military intelligence who was planning arson attacks on Ukrzaliznytsia facilities in Odesa region. Among the main targets of the enemy were transformer substations and relay cabinets on the main railroad lines in the region.
Earlier, the SBU and the National Police reported that they had prevented a series of terrorist attacks in Odesa by detaining two men working for the FSB in the city.
