The NGO "Volunteer Movement "Common Purpose" has announced the intention of the Odesa City Council to give the land of the Black Sea sanatorium at 13 Velykyi Fontan Street for construction.

According to the organization, this is how the volunteers view the intention to lease 6 hectares of land at 1 Dachny Lane, 2 to Platan Plus, a private joint-stock company.

"The designated purpose is 'sanatorium and health facilities,' and it is obvious that construction is planned under this guise," the volunteers said.

Thus, the public organization stated its demands to hold a public discussion of this issue with the participation of the community, Platan Plus PJSC and the Odesa City Council before any decision is made on the sanatorium land.

They also officially appealed to Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov, Head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration Oleh Kiper, and the President's Office to stop consideration of this issue at the session, remove it from the agenda, and provide an opportunity to constructively address the situation.

In 2001, the Odesa City Council granted this land plot to Ukrprofzdravnytsia CJSC for temporary long-term use, under a lease, for the operation and maintenance of buildings and facilities of the Chorne Morye sanatorium. "Ukrprofzdravnytsia was obliged to develop documents certifying the right to use this land plot, but it did not fulfill this condition.

In 2020, a number of civil society organizations raised the alarm because a group of people were spotted taking geodetic measurements on the territory of the Black Sea sanatorium, which led people to believe that preparatory work was underway for construction.

The session also plans to allow the sale of the land plot under the former Golden Duke cinema.
