Almost a third of pensioners in Ukraine receive more than UAH 3,000 per month. Among the southern regions, Odesa is the leader, ahead of Mykolaiv and Kherson.

This is evidenced by data from Opendatabot.

The average pension in Ukraine as of early October 2025 is UAH 6,436, or about 133 euros. According to the Pension Fund, there are more than 10.2 million pensioners in the country, and one in four of them continues to work.

Despite the increase in payments after indexation, the income gap remains significant. Almost a third of pensioners - more than 3.3 million people - receive only about UAH 3,340 per month. Another 4% live on up to UAH 2,300.

For comparison, last year 26% of pensioners received payments of less than UAH 3,000, but this share has decreased due to the recalculation. In terms of the structure of payments, the largest group of Ukrainian pensioners receives between 3 and 4 thousand hryvnias (31.6%), another 20.6% - between 4 and 5 thousand, and almost a third - between 5 and 10 thousand hryvnias.

At the same time, 15% of pensioners, or about 1.5 million people, have an average payment of more than 10 thousand hryvnias - an average of 15,750 hryvnias (about 325 euros). Regional differences remain significant.

The highest pensions are received in Kyiv - UAH 8,848, which is 37% higher than the national average. The lowest ones are in the West: in Ternopil region - UAH 4,997, in Chernivtsi region - UAH 5,173, in Zakarpattia region - UAH 5,233.

In the South, pensions are closer to the average level: in Odesa region - UAH 6,449, in Mykolaiv region - UAH 6,164, in Kherson region - UAH 6,146.

By comparison, pensions in the eastern regions are traditionally higher: in Kharkiv region - UAH 7,168, in Donetsk region - UAH 7,912, in Luhansk region - UAH 7,398.

Despite gradual growth, Ukrainian pensions remain among the lowest in Europe. Its size is close to the average level in Albania - about 160 euros. In Romania and Bulgaria, average pensions range from 450 to 550 euros, while in Poland and the Czech Republic they exceed 800 euros.

Currently, more than 2.8 million Ukrainians continue to work after retirement. Their average payments are about UAH 7,069 per month.

At the end of 2024, the average pension in Ukraine increased, but no real increase was felt due to inflation. Over the year, payments increased by 7.5%, while inflation, according to the NBU, reached 12%.

There are currently 10.34 million pensioners in Ukraine. During the three years of full-scale war, their number has decreased by almost half a million, the same as during the two years of the pandemic.
