Activists of the NGO Decolonization.Ukraine have once again updated their map with the number of streets that they believe should be renamed, reducing their number in Odesa region to 200.

Moreover, according to this indicator, Odesa region moved from fifth place to fourth.

This happened because Kyiv and Kharkiv regions tied for second place. In both regions, 283 streets and lanes need to be decolonized, and before that, Kyiv region slightly outnumbered Kharkiv region by one place name.

The number of place names in need of decolonization in Mykolaiv region has also decreased - 72 against 73 previously, and 66 in Kherson region.

Zaporizhzhia region holds the first place, although the number of place names there has decreased by one to 1,000. Activists have always noted that the list is not exhaustive and will be adjusted in the future.

Earlier, the Department of International Cooperation of Culture and Marketing of the Odesa City Council reported that the city council does not plan to rename some streets and alleys of the city named after Russian cultural figures, politicians and military.

The streets in question are: Anna Akhmatova, Astashkin, Bekhterev, Volodya Dubinin, Kondrashin, Korney Chukovsky, Krasnov, Kuprin, Levitan, Nikolai Gumilev, Nemirovich-Danchenko, Alexander Bok, Pavel Shklyaruk, Sobinov, and Artist Fedorov. And also about the seven lanes: Malynovskyi, Pavlova, Vorontsovskyi, Astashkina, Pershotravnevyi, Hlazunova, and Vrubel. According to the Historical and Toponymic Commission at the Convocation Committee of the Odesa City Council, these names do not fall under the laws "On Decommunization" and "On Decolonization of Place Names."

Earlier, activists of the organization Decolonization. Ukraine" organization appealed to the Odesa City Council to dismantle 40 memorial plaques in the city, which they attributed to the Soviet and imperial heritage.
