All employees of the educational sector in Odesa will receive additional payments on a monthly basis.

This decision was made at a session of the Odesa City Council.

According to the decision, teachers of schools, kindergartens and out-of-school institutions will receive UAH 2,000 in additional payments. Librarians, healthcare workers, technical staff and cooks in kindergartens will receive UAH 1,000 each. Young professionals in the field of education will receive the largest additional payments - 3 thousand hryvnias per month.

Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov explained that such measures are aimed at supporting educators, as low salaries lead to a shortage of staff.

"We see teachers, educators, and educators who have graduated from university and do not go to work in their profession being laid off, because young professionals cannot live on those salaries, and if they have a family, they receive very low salaries," he said.

UAH 220 million has been allocated from the city budget to implement the initiative. Payments will start in April, and the relevant orders are currently being prepared.

Odesa deputies also approved amendments to the city 's Safe City of Odesa program, which provides for an additional increase in funds for the needs of the military.

In addition, the deputies approved a methodology for calculating rent for municipal property owned by the territorial community of Odesa.

As noted by MP Oleksandr Slavskyi, this decision will unblock the process of leasing municipal property for organizations that have the right to enter into contracts without holding an auction. These include government agencies, charitable and public organizations, rehabilitation centers, etc.

During the session, city council members appealed to the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, to exclude the region from the waste management program.
