Odesa plans to allocate UAH 2 million for sanitary pruning of green spaces along the Health Route and the coastal zone.

This was discussed during a meeting of the Standing Committee on Budget Planning and Finance of the Odesa City Council.

According to the chairman of the commission, Oleksii Potapskyi, the total request for funding for such works is UAH 4.87 million. In particular, UAH 907 thousand is provided for the removal of hazardous trees, and UAH 1.4 million for stump uprooting. However, given the financial capabilities and budget balances, the commission proposed to allocate UAH 2 million so far.

"There is a proposal from the commission to allocate UAH 2 million for sanitary tree pruning so that you can do the pruning before the season and have time to do it. And in the fall, if there is a financial resource, you will also be able to complete the work," he explained.

The commission also raised the question of who will carry out the work - the municipal enterprise "Miskzelentrest" or contractors through a tender. And as it turned out, they will be looking for contractors.

In addition, they raised the issue of inventorying green spaces and the possibility of purchasing their own equipment to perform the work without involving third-party contractors.

Meanwhile, preparations for the opening of the beach season are underway in Odesa Oblast. This year, the authorities plan to open 48 beaches for vacationers. For comparison, in 2024, the number of beach areas for vacationers was more than 2.5 times less - 20.

A prerequisite for opening a beach for vacationers is a diving survey of the coastal seabed, the availability of shelters and relevant agreements. And the nets that were stretched along the coast to protect against mines are no longer considered appropriate, the city council adds. In addition, they promise to check the beaches for fuel oil stains brought by the sea after the Russian tanker accident.
