Mykolaivvodokanal, a utility company of the Mykolaiv City Council, is facing an acute shortage of staff. The company lacks workers in blue-collar occupations, including mechanics, tractor drivers, excavator operators and electric and gas welders.

Gennadiy Izyumov, the company's director, told the MART TV channel.

According to him, the biggest shortage is of specialists engaged in emergency repair and maintenance of networks.

"Just like many other companies, we have a staff shortage problem. First of all, there is a shortage of emergency repairmen, tractor drivers, excavator operators and electric and gas welders," said Gennadiy Izyumov.

At the same time, Mykolayivvodokanal is trying to solve the staffing problem. The company cooperates with the employment center, conducts internal training for employees and pays for advanced training.

According to the director, the company helps new employees adapt and invests in staff development, but the lack of specialists remains a serious problem.

Recently, employees ofthe Mykolaivvodokanal utility company appealed to Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych to dismiss its director, Gennadiy Izyumov.

Earlier, Mykolaiv announced a tender for the reconstruction of a sewer collector on Chkalova Street, with over UAH 59 million to be spent on the work. The project envisages a complete replacement of worn-out networks and modernization of infrastructure with a deadline of the end of 2026.

The municipal utility also announced a tender for the restoration of the road surface after repairs on city networks. The works include the preparation of the base and laying of new asphalt on damaged road sections. More than UAH 19 million is planned for this purpose.
