Employees of the Mykolaiv Vodokanal utility company have appealed to Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych to dismiss its director, Gennadiy Izyumov.
The video appeal was posted on Facebook by Ihor Bloshko, the company's anti-corruption commissioner.
In the appeal, the employees expressed their distrust of the new CEO and criticized the work of the company's supervisory board.
They also expressed concerns about possible changes in the company's operations, including the risk of privatization, which, in their opinion, could lead to higher tariffs and layoffs.
Employees of Mykolaivvodokanal stated that they provide water supply to the city even during shelling and air raids.
In their appeal, the staff put forward several demands, including:
Bloshko added that if a supervisory board is needed, it should be elected from among the city's residents, not those"who, sitting abroad, will eventually not care about the cost and quality of water for city residents."
Earlier, Mykolaiv announced a tender for the reconstruction of a sewer collector on Chkalova Street, with more than UAH 59 million to be spent on the work. The project envisages a complete replacement of worn-out networks and modernization of infrastructure with a deadline of the end of 2026.
The municipal utility also announced a tender for the restoration of the road surface after repairs on city networks. The works include the preparation of the base and laying of new asphalt on damaged road sections. More than UAH 19 million is planned for this purpose.
