Due to a lack of funding for hospitals in Mykolaiv, the funds of Maternity Hospital No. 3 were used for the needs of another medical facility.
As Intent has learned, during a meeting of the executive committee of the Mykolaiv City Council, the city decided to allocate almost UAH 9 million left over after the transfer of maternity hospital No. 3 to regional ownership to the needs of another medical institution.
The amount in question is UAH 8 million 853 thousand 600, which will be transferred to City Hospital No. 3.
The need for redistribution arose after the city withdrew from the founding members of the maternity hospital and the institution itself became subordinate to the region.
According to Iryna Shamrai, head of the city's health department, the funds will be used to support other hospitals in the community, as medical institutions will not have enough funding to pay for utilities by the end of the year.
- On April 9, it was decided to transfer the institution to regional communal ownership. We are withdrawing the remaining funds from this institution. Moreover, our institutions do not have enough money to pay for utilities until the end of the year," the official said.
As a reminder, members of the Mykolaiv Oblast Council approved the transfer of Maternity Hospital No. 3 to the joint ownership of the oblast. It is planned to be merged with the Mykolaiv Regional Clinical Hospital located nearby. This decision is expected to optimize the operation of medical facilities and improve the quality of medical services.
The executive committee of the city council also approved the procedure for reimbursement of the cost of sanatorium treatment for war veterans for 2026.
During the meeting, the executive committee decided to amend the list of facilities damaged as a result of Russian aggression that require immediate dismantling.
Earlier, the Executive Committee of Mykolaiv City Council approved changes to the community budget for 2026.
According to the updated figures, total budget expenditures amount to over UAH 6.9 billion. Of this amount, about UAH 5.4 billion is allocated to the general fund, which covers salaries for public sector employees, utility bills, and support for the city's vital functions. Almost UAH 1.5 billion more is provided for in the special fund, which is used for development and capital expenditures.
