Oleksiy Sereda, a diver from Mykolaiv, has been named one of the top 10 best athletes of the year 2025 by the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine and the Association of Sports Journalists.

This was announced by the Ukrainian Diving Federation on Facebook.

During the celebrations on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, the award was presented to the athlete by the president of the NOC, Olympic champion Vadym Gutzeit and the vice president of the committee Oleksandr Krykun.

In particular, at the World Aquatics Championships, Sereda won silver in individual diving from a 10-meter tower. In the European arena, the Ukrainian won three gold medals at the European Championships, which were decisive for the victory of our national team in the overall medal standings of Euro 2025.

Earlier, the Ukrainian national diving team demonstrated results at the World Cup Super Final held in Beijing, China. Our athletes were represented in five disciplines, in two of which they managed to get on the podium.

The first award, a bronze medal, was won by the Ukrainians in the synchronized 10-meter tower jump. Oleksiy Sereda, 19, from Mykolaiv, paired with his 15-year-old partner Mark Grytsenko, confidently covered the distance and finished the competition in third place.

The performance of our team in the mixed team mix (jumps from 3 and 10 meters) was even more successful. The Ukrainian team of Oleksiy Sereda, Kirill Bolyukh, Sofia Lyskun and Ksenia Bailo from Mykolaiv won silver medals, losing only to the tournament leaders.

Oleksiy Sereda was close to a medal in the individual competition as well. Despite the fact that the Ukrainian reached the final round with one of the best results in his career, he stopped one step short of a medal in an extremely difficult fight for the prize, taking fourth place.
